Why didn’t you produce more children to get an extra ration, Uttarakhand CM asks people

He was referring to the distribution of food grains during the coronavirus pandemic.

Days after criticizing his comment on ‘ripped jeans’, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat stoked another controversy on Sunday, saying people should have produced more children to get an extra ration during the coronavirus pandemic.

In a blunder during his speech at a program at Nainital’s Ramnagar, he apparently mistook Britain for the United States, claiming that America ruled India for over 200 years.

Referring to the distribution of food grains during the pandemic, Uttarakhand CM said each affected household received 5 kg of ration per member.

“Those who have 10 children have 50 kg while those who have 20 have a quintal. People with two children weigh 10 kg. People have built stores and found buyers, ”Rawat said, adding that he had never eaten rice so fine.

“Who is to blame for this,” the CM asked.

“Now you’re jealous of it. When it was time, you only produced two. Why haven’t you produced 20? Mr. Rawat said.

In the program, Mr. Rawat also said that America had enslaved India for 200 years.

“America, which enslaved us for 200 years, ruled all over the world … the empire that the sun has never set, is in trouble today,” Mr. Rawat on the pandemic.

On the other hand, due to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India with a population of 130 to 135 crore still feels relieved, he said.

Reacting to the remarks, Congressman Randeep Surjewala taunted the BJP for its selection of Mr. Rawat as Uttarakhand CM.

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Surjewala said he chooses such “scholarly talents”. He also mocked Mr. Rawat’s statement that the United States ruled India for 200 years.
