New Delhi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has resigned. Tirath Singh’s unexpected resignation comes less than four months after taking office. He arrived at the Raj Bhavan at 11 pm with his colleagues and handed over his resignation letter to Governor Baby Rani Maurya.
Tirath Singh, a Lok Sabha member, succeeded Trivendra Singh Rawat as Chief Minister in March. The constitution stipulates that an MLA must be directly elected within six months. According to reports, the decision to resign was taken due to the ongoing crisis in the by – elections. He had until Sept. 10 to face the election.
