Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has resigned. Rawat arrived at the Raj Bhavan on Friday night and handed over his resignation letter to Governor Baby Rani Maurya. Rawat, a Lok Sabha MP, became the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand four months ago.

He is currently an MLA. If not, he would have to become a lawmaker within six months to continue as chief minister. Rawat’s resignation comes amid by-elections in the Kovid context. Rawat was due to become a member of the legislature by September 10.
