Uttarakhand Chief Minister resigns

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has resigned. Governor Baby Rani handed over her resignation letter to Maurya. Tirat Singh Rawat became the Chief Minister four months ago.

The resignation is said to have been decided by the BJP central leadership. He had been in Delhi for the past few days and had met leaders including BJP national president JP Nadda.

News of his resignation came out as early as Friday afternoon. Later in the night, Tirat Singh Rawat handed over his resignation letter to the governor. The MLAs will elect a new chief minister on Saturday.

Tirath Singh Rawat was sworn in as Uttarakhand Chief Minister last March. Tirat Singh was appointed as the new Chief Minister, replacing Trivendra Rawat.
