Jalna, March 11 (PTI): Two health ministry officials tested positive for coronavirus in Jalna district, Maharashtra, days after receiving the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, an official said on Thursday.

These two district health officials had taken the second hit a few days ago. However, both exhibited mild symptoms of COVID-19, he said.

“When their samples were examined, they tested positive for the infection,” the official said.

Another health official from a government hospital in the city of Ambad also tested positive for the coronavirus, he added.

Additional civilian surgeon Padmaja Saraf said it takes around 42 days for antibodies to develop after two doses of the vaccine are given.

“You have to wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 protocols even after taking both doses of the vaccine,” she said.

Meanwhile, the district reported 204 new cases on Thursday. Among them, the city of Jalna recorded 139.

The district has registered 17,417 cases so far and 15,712 people have recovered from the infection, while 407 others have died, officials said.

The district’s COVID-19 death rate is 2.37%, while the cure rate is 90.22%.

There are 1,297 active cases in the district.

Faced with the increase in cases, district collector Ravindra Binwade announced restrictions from March 11 to 31.

In accordance with the order issued late Wednesday night, all stores and other commercial establishments except grocery stores, medical stores and vegetable markets will remain closed during this time.

Essentials stores, vegetable shops in the area under city councils, and nagar panchayats can only operate until 7 p.m.

Swimming pools and gymnasiums will also remain closed, while only 20 people will be allowed to participate in wedding ceremonies in reception halls, he said.

Hotels and restaurants will remain closed while parcel services will be permitted.

Religious, political, cultural and social gatherings and gatherings are prohibited in the neighborhood.
