Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey and Harshvardhan Rane’s new film Haseen Dillruba pays homage to Hindi pulp thrillers. The trio were asked in a new interview if they’ve ever been caught watching “hot” movies.
While Vikrant Massey admitted his aunt caught him with his cousins watching something they weren’t supposed to do, Harshvardhan Rane recalled being ripped off by a quality movie B where you had to be bored for hours just for a few scenes. Taapsee Pannu, meanwhile, said that growing up there was awkwardness at home when an “explicit scene” appeared when the family watched a movie.
“Dad mostly watched action movies in English,” Taapsee told RJ Siddharth Kannan in an interview. “We only had one TV, so if daddy started watching we would have no choice but to watch with us. We weren’t going out to watch movies per se. having a romantic relationship, or some kind of explicit scene. But it gets really awkward when it’s next to your teenage daughters. So we’re both sitting there, and it’s almost like we’ve all started to sweat, trying to figure out who should do what. “
She said the “very obvious” way for them to deflect the embarrassment was to suddenly go out to fetch water or change channels. “Stuff like that happened to me, but not like someone caught …”

Directed by Vinil Mathew and written by Kanika Dhillon, Haseen Dillruba will arrive on Netflix on Friday. This is Vikrant’s fourth consecutive Netflix project, following Cargo, Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare and Ginny Weds Sunny. Taapsee has films such as Looop Lapeta, Dobaaraa, Rashmi Rocket, and Shabhaash Mithu in the works.
