Special Covid vaccination campaign for women in Uttar Pradesh

Yogi Adityanath’s government in Uttar Pradesh will launch a special Covid-19 vaccination campaign for women over 60 on International Women’s Day on March 8.

This was announced on Friday by Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Avanish Kumar Awasthi in a high-level meeting with UP Women’s Commission chairperson Vimala Batham.

The official, in the meeting with the chairperson of the Women’s Commission, discussed measures to provide a safer environment for women, strengthen peace, effectively fight crime and provide one hundred percent benefits government-run programs as part of the Mission Shakti campaign.

Awasthi said, “In accordance with the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, effective measures should be taken to make women economically independent so that the benefits of government-run programs can be made available to women as a priority.”

He also asked the officers to pay special attention to the programs carried out as part of the Mission Shakti campaign.

ACS Home also announced that the state government will facilitate women entrepreneurs on March 10 in Lucknow.

“Guests will be honored and participants will be informed about the efforts and success of women entrepreneurs. Efforts will also be made to motivate women working in various institutions in Lucknow District as part of the program,” he said.

UP Women’s Commission chairperson Vimla Batham said a work plan would be prepared by the Commission for Women’s Empowerment through the Shakti Mission.

“The commission decided to launch awareness campaigns in the 28 districts during the first phase on March 3 to enlighten women on the various programs launched by the state government,” she said.
