Samsung Galaxy Quantum 2 aka Galaxy A82 5G to launch April 23, specs and design leak

The Samsung Galaxy Quantum 2, which is slated to launch as the Galaxy A82 5G in select markets, will launch on April 23 in South Korea, according to a report. The smartphone is expected to be the successor to the Galaxy A Quantum handset which launched with quantum encryption technology last year. Live images of the rumored smartphone have now leaked online, revealing its design and key specifications. The phone can be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SoC.

Images of the rumored Samsung Galaxy Quantum 2 were leaked by South Korean blog, along with sharing by tipster Mukul Sharma. Naver’s report claims the phone will launch on April 23 in South Korea and will have the same design as the Samsung Galaxy S21 + but a Full HD + display. The report further states that the Galaxy Quantum 2 carries the model number SM-A826, which is also said to be the Galaxy A82 5G recently spotted on the Bluetooth SIG and Geekbench listings. The Bluetooth SIG site has listed the phone with Bluetooth v5 and the Geekbench listing has suggested that it will run on Android 11.

As for the specs, the processor associated with the alleged Samsung Galaxy Quantum 2, aka Galaxy A82 5G, is codenamed “msmnile”, which has been associated with the Snapdragon 855+ SoC. Naver’s report also states that the Samsung smartphone in question will be powered by a Snapdragon 855+ SoC, and live footage shows the smartphone will pack 6GB of RAM and 128GB of on-board storage. The phone’s SoC and RAM information was also previously revealed via its Geekbench and Google Play listing spotted by 91Mobiles.

As for the camera, Naver’s report says the main snapper for the Samsung Galaxy Quantum 2’s triple rear camera setup will be a 64-megapixel sensor. The Galaxy A82 (4G variant) would also have a 64-megapixel rear main camera, which is said to be a Sony IMX686 sensor and not Samsung’s ISOCELL GW1 sensor.

The report also states that the rumored Galaxy A82 is not intended for the European market but for Samsung’s home market in South Korea. The phone would also have a QRNG (Quantum Random Number Generator) chip to increase data encryption on the device.

The new leak suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Quantum 2 and Samsung Galaxy A82, which can be launched in 4G and 5G variants, are the same handsets. The Galaxy Quantum 2, which is expected to contain a 4,500mAh battery, is likely the successor to the Galaxy A Quantum launched last year. Samsung has yet to say anything about the rumored phones.
