Recently, Xiaomi has often renamed Redmi smartphones as POCO phones in other markets. The reverse seems to be the case for the POCO M3 which was tipped to be launched as the Redmi 9T in certain markets. A YouTuber has now shared a video of the Redmi 9T confirming that the device will be a rebranded POCO M3. The video even features the M3 managed side by side with the Redmi 9T.
The YouTube video posted by Mobile technical podcast has been removed but you can still check it from below. The Redmi 9T has one key difference from the Poco M3, which is the rear camera setup. Whiule the Poco M3 contains three rear cameras, the 9T has four camera configurations. The fourth lens is an 8MP ultra wide angle lens in addition to the 48MP main wide angle lens, 2MP depth sensor, and 2MP macro lens.
The display and other setups are probably the same. This includes a 6.53-inch Full HD + IPS display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. There is a teardrop-shaped notch on the screen that houses an 8MP selfie camera. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of expandable storage. The device will also pack a large 6000mAh battery.
It is not yet known when the device will launch, but the device was recently certified in Thailand. Additionally, Xiaomi Malaysia recently instituted a contest that ends on January 7, 2021, which will see 10 lucky fans return home with a unit of a device suspected of being the Redmi 9T. Thus, we believe that the device will be launched very soon.
