Ramanattukara gold robbery: Sufian surrenders

Kondotty: Sufian (31), the main accused in the gold smuggling case related to the Ramanattukara accident, has surrendered. He surrendered at the Kondotty police station. Police say Sufian is linked to a gold smuggling mafia. Police said two more people were yet to be arrested.

Sufian, a native of Wawad, Kozhikode, is already accused in a gold smuggling case. Kofeposa exists against him. Police believe that Sufian created the WhatsApp group for gold smuggling.

Sufian has previously been charged in two gold smuggling cases. Kozhikode DRI and Bangalore Revenue Intelligence have charged Kofepose against Sufian. He has been lodged in Parappana Agrahara Jail for six months and also in Thiruvananthapuram Jail.

Sufian is suspected in a case of smuggling 11 kg of gold in Bangalore. Sufian was also accused in the case of smelting gold near Omassery, Kozhikode. Sufian reached Kozhikode Koduvalli from Dubai in 2018.

During the existence of Kofeposa, it reached Kathmandu Airport and from there reached Kerala by road. Police believe Sufian was behind the gold smuggling ring that killed five people.
