Britain’s Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth, 99, has been transferred to a private hospital after successfully undergoing surgery to treat heart disease, Buckingham Palace said on Friday.

Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh hospitalized for more than two weeks, was transferred on Monday to a London hospital with a heart center specializing in the treatment of a pre-existing heart problem.

The palace said he has now returned to King Edward VII’s private hospital where he was first admitted for treatment for an unspecified but unrelated Covid infection.

“The duke is expected to remain in the hospital for continued treatment for a number of days,” the palace said in a statement.

Since his admission to hospital on February 16, the Duke has only received a public visit from his son and heir Prince Charles.

The Queen, 94, remained at Windsor Castle in west London, where the couple stayed during the coronavirus pandemic, and continued to perform their official duties via video.
