
More than 2.91 crore of COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far with 9.74,090 injections given Saturday night, the Union Health Ministry said.
According to an interim report, of the 2,91,92,547 doses administered so far, 73,31,498 were administered to health care and 72,96,474 frontline workers who took the first dose, and 42,58,297 health and 10,53,732 frontline workers who received the second dose.
No less than 78,66,241 elderly people and 13,86,305 people aged 45 and over with specific comorbidities have received doses of the vaccine.
“A total of 9,74,090 doses of vaccine were administered until 7 p.m. on Saturday, the 57the day of national vaccination against COVID19.
“Of these, 8,05,014 beneficiaries were vaccinated for the first dose and 1,69,076 health and frontline workers received the second dose of vaccine according to the interim report. The day’s final report would be completed late at night, ”the ministry said in a statement.
The nationwide vaccination campaign was launched on January 16, health workers were vaccinated, and vaccination of frontline workers began from February 2.
The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination began on March 1 for people over 60 and for people 45 and over with specified co-morbidities.
