On the first anniversary of the death of legendary choreographer Saroj Khan on Saturday, Bhushan Kumar’s T-series announced that they will be doing a biopic on her. Details of the actress who will play Saroj Khan in the film have yet to be revealed. Bhushan Kumar announced on Twitter that he had already acquired the rights to Saroj Khan’s life story from his family. More details on the project are expected now. The tweet was accompanied by a caption which read: “We are happy to announce that we have acquired the rights to the legendary choreographer, The Life Story of Saroj Khan. Stay tuned.”

Saroj Khan, who was previously admitted to a Mumbai hospital last year with respiratory problems, died in July 2020 from cardiac arrest. She was 71 years old. Saroj Khan’s last choreographed song remains Tabah ho gaye of Kalank, which stars Madhuri Dixit.

Three national award winner Saroj Khan has choreographed some of Bollywood’s most iconic dance hits. Ms. Khan has choreographed evergreen pieces such as Hawa Hawai, Ek Do Teen, Tamma Tamma Loge, Dhak Dhak Karne Laga, among many others. She has received national awards for Yeh Ishq Haaye of Jab we met, Dola Re Dola of Devdas and all the songs from the Tamil movie Sringaram.
