The year is 2021 and we have officially gone from Black mirror be just a show and venture into reality too quickly. The New York Police’s new robotic dog is proof of that.
The dog deployed by the NYPD police is called the “Digidog”. The robot dog is blue and black in color and trots on all fours.
According to a New York Post report, the 70-pound robot is in its testing phase and is fitted with lights and cameras to allow cops to see “its surroundings in real time.” In fact, he even responded to a home invasion on East 227th Street near White Plains Road in Wakefield, United States.
The dog uses its very powerful artificial intelligence to navigate a “complex environment”. “This dog is going to save lives, protect people and protect officers and that is our goal,” an NYPD official said.
However, the dog gave internet users the feeling that he is straight out of Black mirror, a dark, critical and contemplative Netflix series, which offers a contemporary take on the futuristic and sci-fi world of human-tech collision and its aftermath. Quite similar to the creation of “digidog”.
As soon as the viral video of the bragging dog on the streets went viral, netizens realized that they had definitely “seen this movie before.”
I saw this episode before I even saw any of these things and have been scared from the first time I saw them. – Big💎Cult💎Energy (@big_cult_energy) February 24, 2021
However, many Internet users scorned the existence of a robotic dog in reality. Many wondered what the consequence would be if he knew how to bite people!

Of course, the very first real application of this amazing technology that any of us will encounter will be that it will be used as a boot on our necks. – Cin_bee (@cin_bees) February 23, 2021
U.S. Senator Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has also expressed her disapproval of the NYPD’s new robotic dog, which has been tested at its native land in the Bronx.
