Next-generation Land Cruiser is expected to debut in the coming months, followed by international market launch (LC300 series)

The Land Cruiser is Toyota’s largest racing model, and the mighty SUV has been around since 1951, with the current generation model having been on sale for over 13 years now. The SUV underwent two renovations during this period, but the car now feels outdated. The Japanese automaker obviously understood this and has been working on a new generation model for some time.

However, it looks like the launch is finally approaching. We’ve seen spy photos of the next-gen Toyota Land Cruiser wearing camouflage before, but this time around, the SUV’s naked bodies have been spied on in Japan. The images were posted by Kurdistan Automotive Blog on Instagram.

Not only the naked body, but the frame of the ladder frame was also spotted with the engine installed on it, as well as the alleged doors of the Land Cruiser. Previous reports have suggested that the next-gen Land Cruiser would be built on the same platform as the outgoing model, but would need a major overhaul in other departments such as engines, transmission and suspension.

Previously, the cabin of the new generation Land Cruiser was also fully revealed in a series of spy shots. While the exterior was completely shrouded in camouflage, photos of the cabin revealed crucial information. Since the Land Cruiser is Toyota’s flagship offering, we expect it to come with a lot of features.

The previously spied test mule featured a large floating touchscreen infotainment system that took center stage on the dashboard. The switches for the air conditioning controls were seen placed under the touchscreen. In addition to the air conditioning, switches for the operation of the heated and ventilated seats, the heated steering wheel, etc. were also visible.

As for the external styling, we expect the new generation Land Cruiser to feature an evolutionary design from the outgoing model. The SUV will retain its macho appeal, with the addition of a range of modern elements to give it a fresh look on the outside.

Under the hood of the next-gen Land Cruiser will likely be a new 3.5-liter V6 petrol hybrid engine. This powertrain is already offered with the Lexus LX500 and develops 416 hp of maximum power and 600 Nm of peak torque. A 3.3-liter six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine could also be introduced later.
