The fire was brought under control after several hours of rescue operations.

More than 70 coronavirus patients have been taken to safety after a fire broke out last night at a hospital in a shopping mall in Mumbai. While the hospital in a statement said “there were no injuries from the fires,” officials told reporters two bodies were found.
Twenty-two fire trucks were transported to Dreams Mall Sunrise Hospital last night when a fire started around 12:30 a.m. More than 70 Covid patients were admitted to hospital at the time of the incident. Officials have yet to confirm the cause of the blaze.
In a statement, Sunrise Hospital said: “There was a fire on the first floor of Dreams Mall, Bhandup, and smoke reached Sunrise Hospital on the top floor. All fire alarms beeped and all patients were therefore safely evacuated due to the smoke to the refuge area. There were two corpses (due to Covid), which were also evacuated. There were no injuries due to the fire. (sic) ”
“All the patients were quickly transferred to the Jumbo Covid Center (and some to other private hospitals). We are grateful to the Mumbai firefighters and the Mumbai police force for helping us save lives. This hospital was opened under exceptional circumstances at Covid last year and has helped in saving many patients from Covid deaths. It works with all required compliances like fire permit, nursing home permit. Hospital staff did a fantastic job safely evacuating patients on wheelchairs and beds to the refuge areas and following fire drills. “
The incident comes at a time when India’s financial capital is once again experiencing an upsurge in Covid business. On Thursday, the city recorded 5,504 new infections to set a new record.
Previously, the police officer Prashant Kadam had already been quoted by the ANI news agency. “Two injured were reported in the incident. A level 3 or 4 fire broke out on the first floor of a shopping center at 12:30 p.m. 22 to 23 fire tenders are present on site ”.
Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar told ANI: “This is the first time I see a hospital in a shopping mall. It is a very serious situation. Seven patients were on ventilators. 70 patients were taken to another hospital. An investigation will be conducted. to confirm the cause of the fire. “
