The sports world is bidding farewell to India’s legendary sprinter Milkha Singh. Kovid survived, but problems with it bothered him and Milkha said goodbye on Friday night. Many people shared their memories of Milkha and paid their respects. Now director Sreekumar is sharing a memory about Milkha. VA Sreekumar says that Milkha Singh was a fan of Mohanlal.
Words of VA Sreekumar
In 2013, Push introduced the idea of an integrated ‘Kochi International Half Marathon’ for the Kochi Corporation. With its approval, Lalettan and Indian flying legend Milkha Singh were appointed as brand ambassadors for the program. To be a part of this, Shri. Milkha Singh was very interested. There were two reasons – Mohanlal and God’s own country Kerala. The shooting took place in Fort Kochi and various parts of Kochi. He never gave up. He ran farther than he needed to for the shot, and that too with a full smile! The truth was that we could not hold on to the energy and vibrancy of 83-year-old Addet. It can be said that Lalettan and he were competing. Hundreds of people who witnessed the shooting and us were thrilled and these two stars became part of the program with full laughter and excitement. This was the first international marathon held in Kerala. The shoot, which was planned for two days, was completed in one day.
He was a fan of Lalettan, and Lalettan became his favorite friend during this time in his own style. “We can’t create more sports stars without proper planning. We want to take advantage of the opportunities that are available to us and we need Lalettan’s cooperation,” he said. There is one thing that comforts me in any crisis – I have been able to gain the closeness and friendship of a lot of good people in this life and have been able to be a part of some historic moments. Beloved Milkha Singh is one of them … A simple epic has said goodbye to us today. Prostration!
In this time of the second outbreak of the Kovid epidemic, Asianet News urges everyone to wear masks, sanitize, maintain social distance and be vaccinated. Together we can defeat the epidemic. #BreakTheChain #ANCares #IndiaFightsCorona
