Meghan Markle tells Oprah Winfrey he’s ‘liberator’ to speak out after royal outing

Fans get another glimpse of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s revealing interview with American talk show host Oprah Winfrey, which is scheduled to air on Sunday.

In the latest teaser, which was released on Friday, Oprah revealed that she actually contacted Meghan for an interview three years ago, ahead of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal wedding in 2018, and that her request had been rejected.

“So, I just want to say that I called you either in February or March 2018 before the wedding and asked you, ‘Would you like to give me an interview? time.’ And finally, we can sit down and have this conversation. ”

Meghan said she remembered it well and claimed that she “wasn’t even allowed to have this conversation” with Oprah personally and that other people had to be on the call.

Looking back, Oprah noted that Meghan had turned her down “nicely” and said: “” Maybe there will be another time when there will be the right time. “”

When asked what was right at the time, Meghan pointed out “so much”.

“That we’re on the other side of a lot, a lot of life experiences that have happened. And also that we have the ability to make our own choices in ways that I couldn’t have said yes to. that moment was not my choice, ”she explained.

Meghan added: “So as an adult who has lived a really independent life and then moved into this build which is different than people imagine, it’s really liberating to be able to have the right and the privilege in some means to be able to say, “Yes, I am ready to speak.” To say it for yourself … To be able to make a choice for yourself and to be able to speak for yourself. ”

Previously posted clips also showed Harry opening up. The couple have previously called Meghan’s treatment by the British tabloids “harassment” and in the teaser for the upcoming interview with Oprah, Harry expressed fears that “history will repeat itself”, referring to the death of Princess Diana.

“I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife by my side.” Because I can’t imagine what it must have been like for her to go through this process on her own all those years ago. Because it’s been incredibly difficult for both of us, but at least we got to each other, ”he said.

The next interview comes weeks after it was confirmed that Harry and Meghan will not be returning as active members of the Royal Family.

The interview titled ‘Oprah With Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special’ will air on Sunday.

The interview is expected to cover Meghan’s journey, from her entry into royal life to marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work and intense public pressure. Harry will then join his wife to talk about their historic move to the United States.

In early 2020, Meghan and Harry had announced that they were stepping down from royal duties and moving to North America, citing what they said were the unbearable intrusions and racist attitudes of the British media. They live in Santa Barbara, California, and are expecting their second child.

Harry and Meghan, who married in 2018, welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison, in May 2019.
