It uses a multi-core configuration of ARM Coretex-A55 processor cores with the ARM Mali-G52 GPU. The company has yet to reveal the exact number of processor cores, but it is likely a quad-core cluster.

This new chipset also contains impressive features such as support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation (MEMC), HDMI 2.1 standard and HDR10 +, among others.

As for the screen, it supports up to 4K resolution at 60Hz and supports HEVC, VP9 and AV1 decoding. For connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 6, HDMI 2.1 and USB 3.0 standards. There is also support for Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual X surround sound for an immersive audio experience.

Thanks to the built-in artificial intelligence, TV manufacturers using this chip can offer features such as automatic adjustment of parameters such as color, saturation, brightness, sharpness, etc. to improve the image quality.

There is also support for voice recognition and virtual assistants. It supports up to 4 far-field microphones with ultra-low standby power consumption and the company also offers a one-second CV for hot words.

MediaTek has revealed that 4K smart TVs powered by this new MT9638 chipset are expected to arrive in the second quarter of this year.
