Let’s take a quick look at what happened on Dalal Street today.

The benchmark stock indexes have said goodbye to the 2020 calendar on a lukewarm note. A drop in heavyweights such as TCS, RIL and ITC offset the gains made by banking and financial stocks, as the indices ended up stagnating on the day of the December F&O series expiration.

The 30 Sensex pack witnessed some flip trading, before ending the day with 5 more points. With this, the index recorded its seventh day of consecutive gains. Nifty, however, broke their winning streak after breaking through the intraday 14,000 level. He closed the December F&O series at 13,982.

TCS, UltraTech Cement and Bharti Airtel fell 1.3% each. Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tech Mahindra, and ITC fell 1 percent or more. SAIL, BEL, Jubilant Foodworks and Vodafone Idea grew 4-6%. The larger stock indices outperformed their larger peers by a good margin.
