Delhi: Malayalee athlete MP Jabir qualifies for Tokyo Olympics MP Jabir qualifies for Tokyo Olympics Jabir qualified for the inter-state athletics championships in Patiala by finishing in 49.78 seconds in the 400m hurdles.

Jabir, currently ranked 34th in the world, has qualified for the Olympics through the world rankings quota. Out of the total 40 athletes who qualify, 14 are selected through the world ranking quota.

Jabir will become the first Indian man to compete in the 400m hurdles at the Olympics in Tokyo. Legendary PT Usha competes for India in the women’s 400m hurdles at the Los Angeles Olympics. Jabir last competed in a major tournament in 2019, when all major tournaments were canceled due to Kovid restrictions.

So far, 15 athletes, including Jabir, have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics. In addition, both relay teams have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics.
