Kuo predicts extended mmWave support for iPhone 13, leaked screen protector appears with smaller notch

The iPhone 13 rumor is starting to get more specific every week and now we have more details on 5G connectivity. Ming-Chi Kuo expects Apple to sell iPhones that support mmWave in more regions, including Canada, Japan, Australia, and major European markets. With last year’s iPhone 12 series, Apple only sold mmWave iPhones in the United States, accounting for 30-35% of all iPhone 12 shipments, while this year the number is expected to increase. to reach 50 to 65% in total.

In addition to the extended availability of mmWave, Kuo has so far predicted improved tilting camera performance, 120Hz refresh rates on Pro variants, and smaller notches on all models.

Speaking of smaller notches, a new leak circulating on social media gives us our first look at the redesigned notch thanks to an alleged iPhone 13 screen protector. We can see that the notch is noticeably smaller than outgoing models when placed side by side.

The new smaller size required a repositioning of the speaker which is now located above the front camera and accompanying sensors. This redesign will mark the first change in the notch since Apple announced the iPhone X in 2017.
