‘I’ve done a few little pranks on myself already’: Maxwell opens up about his ‘close’ friendship with Indian cricketer

Glenn Maxwell started his 2021 Indian Premier League campaign on a positive note. After enduring a horrific 2020 IPL season where he failed to even reach a six, Maxwell scored 38 in his first game for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The right-handed Australian batsman was under pressure after being picked for ₹14.25 crore in the auction and has been heavily criticized by several fans for its display in IPL.

RCB fans are hopeful that Maxwell will continue the same way for the rest of the tournament and bond with his teammates. Maxwell already has a mutual admiration for Kohli while also having a relationship with Yuzvendra Chahal. He spoke of his friendship with the Indian spinner.

“I can’t wait to play with my boyfriend. He’s played a few little pranks on me since I got here the first few days, ”Maxwell said in an interview with RCB.

“We were for the first time in the same team in 2013 for the Indians of Mumbai. So we’ve been friends for a long time now. We have been close ever since. Every time we collide it is the same feeling. A big hug before the game. I play with him while I’m on the ground, putting him in a headlock while I bat and he bowling, ”said Maxwell.

Maxwell hopes to continue his good form when RCB takes on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2021 IPL on Wednesday at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
