IPL 2021: ‘When he looks back he will regret’ – Aakash Chopra on PBKS captain KL Rahul’s low strike rate vs DC

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra felt that once Mayank Agarwal came out after a blistering blow to the Punjab Kings, skipper KL Rahul should have attacked the DC bowlers against the Delhi Capitals in their game of Indian Premier League 2021 (IPL) at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday,

Agarwal exploded 69 races out of 36 deliveries and sewn an impressive 122-race opening stand with Rahul before exiting. Skipper PBKS failed to accelerate from there, adding just 19 races for the second wicket with Chris Gayle before falling to Kagiso Rabada.

Cricketer-turned-commentator Chopra, during his post-match analysis in a video shared on his YouTube channel, said Rahul should have replicated his much softer stroke against the Rajasthan Royals.

“When Mayank Agarwal came out, KL Rahul had to speed up a bit, which he did in the first game. He had missed a century, but the acceleration was there. Here, too, we expected he hits. He did it. don’t do that, and when he looks back he’ll regret a little bit because the finish wasn’t solid, “said Chopra.

Chopra also commented that Rahul’s poor strike rate, despite the stick opening and good holding, kept Chris Gayle and PBKS from breaking the 200 point mark; which at one point seemed very breakable.

“Gayle was also fired after that. You wanted to score 60-70 points in the last five overs. You didn’t score as much, and because of that you didn’t reach around 220 points, where you probably should have. reach, “Aakash Chopra added.

Rahul ultimately scored 61 points on 51 balls, at a strike rate of 119.61, and was sent back in 16th.
