IPL 2021: Chepauk wicket is shocking but not the Conservatives’ fault, says Warner | Cricket News

CHENNAI: Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David warner Wednesday called Chepauk’s pitch “shocking” after his side finally scripted a successful four-game chase for their first ever win at the IPL season.
The Sunrisers lost three matches trotting on the track at MA Chidambaram Stadium, which has a reputation for helping the spinners. The site has seen plenty of batting meltdowns this season.

On Wednesday, SRH, however, had the final say in chasing a small goal of 120, set by the Punjab Kings, in 18.4 overs to break their three-game losing streak.
Warner criticized the box office but avoided blaming the Tories.

“To be honest, it’s shocking,” Warner said in a virtual press conference after his team claimed a comfortable nine-wicket victory over Punjab.
“It looks horrible on TV but you have to give the Tories credit. They’ve had a lot of cricket here so it’s very, very difficult for them to get that wicket. Chennai has always been the case there, but it’s very difficult for them. ”

The Chepauk track has played host to a lot of cricket in recent months, with India facing England in two test matches in February, followed by the ongoing IPL’s first leg.
“It’s not their fault (the stewards) that the wicket is like this. You had the Indian Test series against England and the same in Australia, we had a lot of games on the same grounds, so the curators had a very difficult job, ”Warner says.
“As players we know what we have to do, there are no excuses. It’s not ideal but at the end of the day we are grateful to go and play at these wickets because it’s is very difficult for them, they don’t. ” We have to be professionals and adapt. ”
The Australian also revealed that fashion designer T Natarajan had missed out on the last two games for SRH due to a knee injury.
“His knee obviously hurts. Given the circumstances in these bubbles, if he’s going to get a scan he obviously has to sit down for seven days and go back to quarantine, so we’re just watching for now,” Warner said. .
“Physiotherapists do their best to analyze, but he obviously has to have a CT scan at some point.”
Abhishek left arm spinning top Sharma impressed with his two wickets after SRH handed him the first of heats.
“There wasn’t really a thought behind it. We were in the circle there and I just said to Abhishek ‘you got the first one over,’” Warner said.
Sharma could have had a wicket if Rashid Khan hadn’t dropped the first game Mayank Agarwal at deep midwicket.
“I just had a gut instinct (because) they were from Wankhede and it was a good wicket there. I was like ‘you know what, you might as well throw the ball at him and see how he’s doing.’
“These two guys love the rhythm on the new ball, so I just thought I was going to bring in Abhishek and we almost had a wicket on the first shot,” Warner said.
