India on Saturday became the fastest country to deliver 100 million doses of coronavirus vaccine in 85 days, overtaking the United States and China which accomplished the feat in 102 and 89 days, respectively. He has administered around 30 lakh doses per day since April 1, when the third phase of vaccination began across the country. All people over 45 are now eligible to be vaccinated against the cornavirus.
This milestone came at a time when the government ordered all vaccine administration centers – public and private – to remain open every day in April in order to speed up the inoculation process.
Here is a list of countries giving vaccine doses in 85 days:
India – 100 million
United States – 92.09 million
China – 61.42 million
United Kingdom – 21.32 million
Turkey – 17.70 million
The Center had also said it would allow COVID vaccination at government workplaces as well as private offices across the country. States and Union Territories have been urged to prepare for its launch by April 11 and ensure that vaccines are available for employees over 45.
The government’s decision on the matter came amid a huge demand for its access to all adults. It aims to make the coronavirus vaccine accessible to more people and focused on quality.
