Mumbai: Varun Chakraborty has been dropped from the Indian squad for the T20 series against England. It is learned that he is missing out on the opportunity as he is not shining well in the fitness test. Varun was also included in the 19-member team announced yesterday. However, he was dropped from the team after failing a fitness test. Varun had been rested for more than three months following the injury.
India’s new fitness rules are a big challenge for athletes. You have to run 2 km in 8.5 minutes. Must score at least 17.1 on the Yoyo Test. Otherwise the players will not get a chance in the team. Varun’s career took a turn for the worse last season with the Kolkata Knight Riders. With this, Varun was included in the Indian squad for the tour of Australia but could not play in the series due to injury.

Unfortunately, Varun is being hunted again. T Natarajan, who replaced Varun on the tour of Australia, made a remarkable debut in all three formats. Currently, Varun is not playing for Tamil Nadu in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Tamil Nadu did not include Varun in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament.
Varun is part of Kolkata in this IPL too. Along with Sunil Narine, Varun will be the team’s top priority spinner. Varun has surpassed Kuldeep Yadav. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in India this year. Therefore, Varun can only hope for a place in the T20 World Cup squad if he shines in this IPL.
Varun took 17 wickets in 13 matches last season. He took five wickets for 20 runs against Delhi Capitals. Varun, who shone through the Tamil Nadu Premier League, made it to the Punjab Kings team for Rs 8.4 crore in the 2019 IPL, but did not live up to expectations. KKR has acquired Varun, who was left out of Punjab in a single season, for Rs 4 crore in the 2020 auction.
The 29 – year – old Varun is facing a tough challenge as the Indian team has some of the best young spin all – rounders. Varun will be able to get a place in the playing XI only if he can consistently perform well.
