Gionee’s name may not be the most popular these days. However, a few years ago it was a pretty relevant smartphone maker. The company is originally from China and released a bunch of interesting devices a few years ago. It was also one of the first Chinese brands to be present in the Indian market. Despite their initial efforts, the brand could not keep its relevance among other giants like Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo and Vivo. The brand took a hiatus but returned to the Indian and Chinese market last year with low-end devices. Now Gionee is ready to kick off 2021 with a new smartphone for the Indian market dubbed Gionee Max Pro.
The new handset will go official on March 1 in India. It is the successor to the Gionee Max, released in August 202 in India. The Gionee Max Pro will be available for sale through Flipkart. The website confirms some of the key specifications of the Gionee Max Pro. It must be said that besides the capacity of the battery, the specifications are far from impressive. However, keep in mind that this is a budget-oriented smartphone and it will be quite affordable.

Gionee Max Pro alleged specifications
The handset has a 6.2 inch notched teardrop shaped screen. The handset being intended for the low-end segment, we bet on an HD + resolution and an LCD screen. Note that despite the notch, the bezels are quite thick and are on par with some low-end smartphones. The main selling point of the handset is a 6,000mAh battery, but it will also come with 3GB of RAM, which makes multitasking pretty decent. In terms of storage, the phone will only have 32GB of internal storage. Of course, as with other devices in this category, you can use a microSD card slot to further expand the memory. The battery capacity is impressive, but we’ll wait and see if the phone comes with some type of fast charging. After all, that massive battery can take several hours to recharge on a standard charger. Hopefully the phone will have a USB-C port. Since it’s Gionee, I’m waiting for Android 10… Hope the company proves I’m wrong with Android 11.
Unfortunately, specs are scarce at the moment. We hope more details will be revealed in the coming days. As mentioned above, the smartphone will become official in India on March 1 at noon local time.
