Galaxy A82 5G gets closer to launch with Bluetooth certification

Samsung plans to launch a successor to the Galaxy A80 was revealed last year, with the company registering the name Galaxy A82. Last week, the Galaxy A82 5G first appeared in Geekbench’s database, revealing its processor and operating system version. Now the phone has moved closer to launch as it has received Bluetooth certification.

The Galaxy A82 5G (SM-A826S) was found in the Bluetooth SIG database because it received certification earlier today. The phone has Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity with LE (Low Energy) compatibility. Not much else is mentioned in the certification document, so we’ll have to wait for more information to arrive in the coming weeks to learn more about the smartphone. The phone will be equipped with the Snapdragon 855+ processor, a 2-year-old flagship from Qualcomm. It will also come with Android 11 out of the box.

It’s still unclear if the Galaxy A82 will also be available in a 4G LTE variant. Since the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 have high refresh rate Super AMOLED displays and quad-camera setups, we can expect these features to be present in the Galaxy A82 5G as well. It might even feature an upgraded camera, but it remains to be seen how that affects sales of devices like the Galaxy S20 FE.
