Kollam: MP Suresh Gopi said that gram sabhas will be formed in the panchayats to avoid dowry harassment and he will try to convince the Prime Minister and others about the issue. He said the social justice department should take the initiative and not leave everything to the police.
Suresh Gopi’s response came after visiting the house of Vismaya in Kollam, who committed suicide following dowry abuse. He reached Kollam in the evening and met Vismaya’s parents.
Suresh Gopi criticized that the renaissance should be examined to see which way it has gone and which is going. The criticism was that families with daughters were in great distress at events such as Vismaya.
