Bangalore: Royal Challengers Bangalore are the happiest team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as Malayalee star Devdutt Padikkal runs. Devdat’s run chase comes just as the IPL is approaching its 14th season. Karnataka will not be worried if Devdutt Padikkal reaches the crease. Vijay Hazare has scored four centuries in six matches. That too in consecutive innings.
Devdutt, who scored 101 against Kerala in the quarter-finals, was unbeaten on 126 in the group stage. He scored 152 against Odisha and 145 not out against Railways. Half-century in the other two innings. Devdutt, who hit 61 fours and 20 sixes in the tournament, was the leading run-scorer with 673 runs.
Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara and South African Alviro Peterson have scored four consecutive ODI centuries before Devdam. Devdut, who made his IPL debut last season, has also become a loyal player for Bangalore.
The Malayalee, who scored a half-century in the first innings itself, scored 473 runs in 15 matches with five half-centuries. Virat Kohli and his team are hopeful that Devdut will continue to excel in the coming season.
