New Delhi | The Central Government has issued alert to three states, including Kerala, which have detected the presence of the highly contagious Delta Plus virus of Kovid.
Apart from Kerala, the Union Health Ministry has issued warnings to Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. In Kerala, the Delta Plus variant of Kovid has been found in Palakkad and Pathanamthitta, the Ministry of Health said. The Center has asked the chief secretaries to tighten the quarantine and check the spread of the disease. The Center has suggested that Kovid testing should be expanded in these areas and vaccination should be given on priority basis.
On the other hand, Kovacsin was reported to be 77.8 percent effective in preventing Kovid. According to data from the first phase of the experiment, it was 81 percent. Bharat Biotech submitted the details to the DCGI ahead of the World Health Organization’s preliminary hearing of Kovacsin’s application for emergency approval tomorrow.
