A member of the Delhi police was reportedly beaten by a gym owner while on duty in the Dwarka area of Delhi. A video of the incident, which was shared on social media on Wednesday, shows two men launching abuses and beating the police officer.
Police say the incident took place two weeks ago. The policeman, identified as Sushil, had previously been assigned as the Personal Security Officer (OPS) for a man named Sanjay Gupta. On April 1, he went to Uttam Nagar where he argued with relatives of Gupta. Two of them then beat the policeman.
Commenting on the incident, SK Meena, DCP (Dwarka) said: “A video of an assaulted policeman in Uttam Nagar surfaced today. Details are being verified. At first glance, a case of assault on a police officer appears to be established. However, Delhi Police take these matters very seriously. An investigation into the incident is ongoing and appropriate action will be taken in due course. “
