Delhi Limits Guest Gatherings Due To COVID-19, Weddings And Funerals Limited Now | India News

New Delhi: Given the growing number of COVID-19 infections in the nation’s capital, the Delhi government led by Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday March 27 capped the maximum number of people allowed to attend a wedding celebration in closed spaces to 100 in the state. In contrast, the maximum number of people allowed to attend a wedding celebration in open spaces has been set at 200.

“The Covid-19 situation has been reviewed and it has been decided that the status quo should be maintained in Delhi NCT with regards to permitted / prohibited activities in accordance with the aforementioned DDMA ordinances. However, the cap on people in marriage, in banquet halls, in other gatherings / congregations and in funerals / last rites in Delhi NCT should be imposed, ”said the Delhi Disaster Management Authority.

“In closed spaces, a maximum of 50 percent of the capacity of the room will be allowed, with a ceiling of 100 people. In open spaces, the number will be allowed keeping the size of the floor / space in view with a ceiling 200 people subject to strict compliance with the wearing of face masks, the maintenance of social distance, the possibility of thermal scans and the use of hand-wash or disinfectant, ”added the order.

Previously, the state government had set the maximum number of people allowed to attend a closed-space wedding ceremony at 200, while there was no limit for open-space wedding celebrations.

Adding to this, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority statement also added that no more than 50 people can gather at funeral-related events in the nation’s capital.

The new orders will remain in effect until April 30.

Delhi reported a total of 1,558 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours on Saturday for the third day in a row, bringing the total number of cases to 6.55,834. According to the state health report, as many as 974 people have recovered in the state during the said period. With this, the total number of recoveries in Delhi now stands at 6,38,212. There are currently 6,625 active cases in the nation’s capital.
