Coronavirus Cases Update: India Reports 1,45,384 New Covid Cases, Another Highest One-Day Increase | India News

NEW DELHI: The daily number of Covid cases in India set a new record for the fourth day in a row, after reporting more than 1.45 lakh of new cases on Saturday.
According to the Union Ministry of Health, the country has registered 1,45,384 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. With this new outbreak, the total number of infections has reached 1,32,05,926.
No less than 77,567 people have been released or recovered in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,19,90,859.

The previous high was on Thursday when the country reported 1,31968 new positive Covid cases in a single day. This is the fifth day India has reported more than one case of lakh in a single day.
This is the fifth time the country has recorded more than a lakh of cases in one day.
Currently, there are 10,46,631 active cases in the country.

For the first time since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, India had recorded more lakh cases on April 5 in a single day.
With 794 new deaths linked to Covid in the past 24 hours, the toll in the country has risen to 1,68,436.

According to the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), 11,73,219 samples were tested for Covid-19 infection on Friday. With this, the total of samples tested in the country reached 25,52,14,803.
India is now the fourth most affected country by Covid in the world after the number of active cases rose to 10,46,631.

Meanwhile, more than 9.80 crore vaccine doses have been administered since the vaccination campaign began in India on January 16. From April 2, the government began to vaccinate all people over 45 years old.

India began its vaccination campaign on January 16, with priority given to all health and frontline workers in the first phase. The second phase began on March 1 when the doses were administered to people over 60 years of age and those between 45 and 59 years of age with specific comorbidities.
