Confusion over age intensifies as Shahid Afridi claims he is 44

The precise date of birth of former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi has been shrouded in mystery for a very long time. It seemed to have been resolved when he posted his autobiography, but speculation turned in circles after his birthday tweet on March 1, 2021.

Shahid Afridi mentionned, “Thank you very much for all the beautiful birthday wishes – 44 today!” My family and my fans are my greatest assets. I’m really enjoying my time with Multan and hope to produce a winning performance for all MS fans.

The former cricketer, inclined to make controversial comments, said he turned 44 in 2021. But that is at odds with his date of birth which was mentioned in official documents and which he said in his biography. According to official records, he was born in 1980. However, in his autobiography “Game Changer”, he says he was born in 1975.

So, according to official records, Shahid Afridi should have been 41 in 2021 and if we are to trust his autobiography, he turned 46. But in his tweet, he claimed he was 44.

His age has been a subject of recurring jokes among cricket fans who think he is much older than he might have assumed. They joke that he wins a year at the passage of every two years. “I was just nineteen, not sixteen as they claim. I was born in 1975. So yes, the authorities indicated my age incorrectly, ”he wrote in his autobigraphy.
