A Brazilian born with his head “upside down” and who was not to live for 24 hours is now 44 years old. Claudio Vieira de Oliveira, who lives in the northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia, suffers from congenital arthrogryposis multiplex.

The condition means he has muscle atrophy in his leg muscles, his arms are stuck to his chest, and his head is completely turned back, supported by his back.

Claudio didn’t let his disabilities stop him from doing the things he loves. “I never had [difficulties], my life is normal. I am in full quarantine because this Covid is very aggressive, it is deadly, so we are afraid. Save me, my God, from this damn disease, ”he told the Brazilian news site. G1.

He said: “I am more than twice as careful, I have been self-isolating for over a year, and I only leave home to sort out things that only I can do, like banking. “

Claudio had been determined to live his life to the fullest since he was a child. He learned to read and write with his mother at home.

His physical condition can make things more difficult, however, Claudio never had any problems seeing, breathing, eating or drinking.

Claudio uses his condition to inspire people. He’s released a DVD, writes an autobiography, and has even been an occasional motivational speaker, giving speeches since 2000.

However, the pandemic put an end to his speeches. “I miss it so much. I have a speech in the municipality of Bezerra, in the state of Pernamubco, scheduled for April 28. If the pandemic subsides, we will continue,” he said.

The 44-year-old is also anxious to return to work once the pandemic subsides. He voluntarily participates in a Christian educational project called “Alegra-te”, which helps vulnerable children.

He added: “I want to live for many years.”
