Bhumi Pednekar announced the shooting of his next comedy on Saturday Badhaai Do completed. Supported by Junglee Pictures and also starring Rajkummar Rao, the film is a sequel to the National Award-winning success Badhaai Ho !.
It is directed by Harshvardhan Kulkarni, who directed Gulshan Devaiah’s starring comedy Hunterrr (2015). Pednekar and Rao were shooting the film for almost two months in Mussoorie and Dehradun.
Speaking to Instagram, Pednekar shared his photos with Rao and Kulkarni and said the film has finished filming. “This is film for Shardul & Sumi … This image doesn’t do justice to how we and the whole crew felt while filming this movie – Pure love for each other, laughter constants and memories for a lifetime, ”the actor wrote.
Pednekar also praised the film crew for making the project a “memorable” experience for them. “I feel lucky to have worked with you,” she added.
The next film is being written by Suman Adhikary and Akshat Ghildial, who co-wrote Badhaai Ho !. Badhaai Do marks the first collaboration between Rao and Pednekar. Rao, 36, stars in the film as a cop, while Pednekar, 31, will be seen as a PT professor.
Badhaai Ho !, the original film, told the story of a middle-aged couple, played by Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao, facing an unexpected pregnancy. The 2018 film, also starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Surekha Sikri and Sanya Malhotra, was directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma. It won two national awards for Best Popular Film Providing Healthy Entertainment and Best Supporting Actress for Sikri.
Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao is gearing up for his next Roohi release which is set to hit theaters on March 11. The film was directed by Hardik Mehta and also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Sharma in lead roles opposite him. The trailer for Roohi was released on February 16, 2021. The film tells the story of a ghost who ends up kidnapping brides on their honeymoons while their husbands are away. The film was slated for release in June 2020, but production and shooting have been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
