Attempt to defeat CPI (M) candidate in Aruvikara; Party probe against district panchayat president

NRI DESK: Party level probe against CPM Thiruvananthapuram district secretariat member VK Madhu for allegedly trying to defeat the CPI (M) candidate in Aruvikara in the Assembly elections. The name of VK Madhu was recommended by the District Secretariat to Aruvikara. The State Secretariat later decided to field Stephen as its candidate.

Indications are that VK Madhu had a strong protest against the loss of his candidature. The complaint was lodged by Vithara Area Secretary Shaukathali. The issue was discussed at the CPI (M) district committee meeting held last day. The District Secretariat found that there was a serious error. Madhu was also mentioned in a report prepared by the CPM district secretariat in connection with the elections. It was in this context that the CPM decided to appoint a three-member commission of inquiry. C Jayan Babu, C Ajayakumar and KC Vikraman are the members of the commission of inquiry.
