Arjun Kapoor, who is known for Ishaqzaade and the movie 2 States just bought a Land Rover Defender which cost him Rs 1 Crore. He was also recently seen driving the off-road SUV. The famous Bollywood actor has opted for the Pangea Green color scheme for his SUV. From the photos we can see that he also got a luxury license plate.
This is not his first luxury SUV, Arjun already owns a Maserati Levante that he bought for his 32nd birthday. The Levante is finished in blue color and costs Rs. 1.63 crores. He also owns an Audi Q5 and a subtle Honda CR-V SUV.
Speaking of its latest purchase, the Defender is Land Rover’s latest offering. It was a big thing when the manufacturer announced that the Defender’s nameplate was going to make a comeback. So the new Defender had a lot to do. Fortunately, the new Defender has a proven track record and is now one of the best performing SUVs anyone can buy on the market. Thus, the SUV has conquered many hearts around the world.
Land Rover has created a new platform specifically for the Defender, known as the D7X. The new Defender is based on a monocoque chassis, unlike the previous one which was a ladder chassis. The ladder frame may be considered better for off-roading, but nowhere is it comfortable for the road. Thus, Land Rover ensured that the SUV was able to go off-road despite being based on a unibody chassis.
There are some design cues on the new Defender that pay homage to the old Defender. For example, the circular LED headlights are similar to the original Defender. The additional small square LED lights are also found on the old Defender. There are “Safari windows” placed on the corner of the roof and the overall profile of the SUV is still square, just like the original Defender.
The Defender is powered by a 2.0-liter gasoline engine capable of producing a maximum power of 292 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. There is also a more powerful 3.0-liter gasoline engine that produces 394 hp of maximum power and maximum output torque of 550 Nm. Then there is a 3.0 liter diesel engine which produces 296 hp of maximum power and a maximum output torque of 650 Nm. All engines are coupled only to a 8-speed automatic transmission that transmits power to all four wheels via an intelligent Terrain Response system.
Many intelligent systems are offered with the Defender. There’s a two-speed transfer case, configurable terrain response systems, cornering brake control, wading sensor, adaptive dynamics, hill launch assist, hill descent control, dynamic stability control, etc. and can increase the ride height of the vehicle by 145mm off-road. The maximum wading capacity of the SUV is 900 mm. Many other safety equipment are also available.
