Thrissur: Director Anthony Eastman (74), who has been in the Malayalam film world for more than three decades, has passed away. He died of a heart attack at 11.30 am yesterday. Antony is a genius who has signed on in all areas of cinema including directing, production, story and screenplay. Burial will be at 4 pm today at Kadupissery Sacred Heart Church. Antony was born on August 26, 1946 in Chovannur, Kunnamkulam, Thrissur, the son of Muringatheri Kuriakos and Martha.
Chowannur St. Thomas School and Kunnamkulam Govt. Studying in high school. His passion for photography began with the Eastman Studio in 1975 on Jewish Street in Kochi. His job was to take pictures for newspapers. That’s how Antony became Eastman Antony.
He started his career as a still photographer. “Inayethedi” was released in 1979 and was first directed. Silk Smitha, music director Johnson and Kalashala Babu made their debut in this film.
He also directed Varnather, Mridula, Ice Cream, Ampada Naane and Vayal. Produced by Antony in 1995, P.G. With the actor in the film directed by Vishwambharan.
He wrote the story and screenplay for the films Mridula, Ice Cream, Mridula, Manikyan, Thaskaraveeran and Clemax. Parvati Parinayam was built. Akshar became the production executive of the film. Antony also did still photography for the songs, Rariram, Tammil Tammil, Composition, Bloodless Man, Seamanthini, She Was Loyal, This Beautiful Beach, Home is a Paradise, and Bell Ring. His last film was “Climax”, which was scripted in 2013.
