Union Home Secretary Amit Shah left people bewildered on Sunday as he refused to confirm or deny an alleged secret meeting with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar. in the midst of a crisis in Maharashtra’s coalition government.
“Everything does not need to be made public,” he said in cryptic form when asked about the alleged meeting between the veteran Maharashtra politician in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
Mr Pawar’s NCP is a member of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition government in Maharashtra which has been rocked by sensational allegations of corruption against state interior minister Anil Deshmukh by former head of Mumbai Police, Param Bir Singh.
