Amid the controversy, D Roopa, Nimbalkar transferred

Following a raging controversy around the Safe City Project for Bengaluru and the gap between two seniors IPS agents D Roopa and Hemant Nimbalkar, both received new positions by the Government of Karnataka.

Malini Krishnamurthy, a batch of 1993 IPS Officer, replaced D Roopa and was appointed Minister of the Interior.

Meanwhile, Hemant Nimbalkar was transferred and assigned as the IGP’s Homeland Security Division (DSI). He served as IGP and additional commissioner of police, administration in Bengaluru. The government has yet to notify who will replace Nimbalkar.

The two IPS agents had locked the horns, with one alleging that there were irregularities in the bidding and approval process for the Nirbhaya Safe City Bengaluru project.

Along with these two IPS agents, six other IPS agents were also transferred on Thursday. K Ramachandra Rao IPS, Additional Director General of Police, Directorate of Civil Rights and Enforcement (DCRE) transferred and assigned to the post of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Grievances and Human Rights in Bengaluru, which was Malini Krishnamurthy’s post before. Mr Chandrashekar, IGP was transferred and assigned to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Central Range Bengaluru, replacing Seemant Kumar Singh. Vipul Kumar IGP Southern Range, Mysore, was transferred and assigned to the IGP and the director of the Karnataka Police Academy in Mysore.

Vikas Kumar Vikas, Deputy Inspector General of Police (IGP), Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru has been transferred to the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) DIGP. Vartika Katiyar, IPS has been appointed Superintendent of Police, Office of State Crime Registers (SCRB), Bengaluru.

Ranjit Kumar Bandaru, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru South Subdivision, has been transferred and assigned as Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bhatkal Subdivision, Uttara Kannada District.
