Kozhikode: According to Arjun Ayanki, the accused in the TP case helped them to steal the gold being smuggled from abroad. Arjun reiterated that he had no role in the Karipur incident when questioned by customs. But investigators see it as an attempt to escape.

Arjun, who denied any involvement in the latest gold smuggling in Karipur, had earlier admitted to stealing gold from gold smugglers. According to the statement, TP had paid dividends to the accused in the case for helping to smuggle gold. Dividends were paid to the people nominated by the TP case defendants. It is said that he got help to go into hiding after the Karipur incident. Arjun went into hiding in Panur Chokli area.

Arjun says that he came to Karipur to buy money and not to steal gold. Customs suspects that Arjun is trying to escape from the case by admitting his role in the unsubstantiated allegations. It is learned that there is no evidence to take Sajesh into custody. The investigation team is of the view that summoning and questioning the names mentioned in Arjun’s statement will bring more clarity in all matters. Defendants in the TP case may also be questioned if necessary.
