2021 Global Road Safety Series: Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar fire India Legends at 10 wickets

The 2021 World Road Safety Series got off to a breathtaking start on Friday with India Legends recording a landslide 10-wicket victory over Bangladesh Legends in Game 5 in Raipur.

India Legends straddled the unbroken opening partnership of Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar to chase the paltry target of 110 with 59 bullets in reserve.

Sehwag smashed 80 out of 35 balls with 10 limits and 5 sixes while Tendulkar scored 33 out of 26 balls with five limits as India crossed the finish line in 10.1 points to grab first place of the whiteboard.

Bangladesh Legends’ decision to beat first after winning the toss didn’t work as they were eliminated for 109 in 19.4 overs.

Pragyan Ojha, Yuvraj Singh and Vinay Kumar grabbed two wickets each while Manpreet Gony and Yusuf Pathan also got their names in the wicket column with 1 each.

Opener Nazimuddin was the top scorer for the visitors with 49 balls on 33 balls while Javed Omar and Rain Saleh were the only other batsmen to hit the double, both scoring 12 points each, while the rest couldn’t even hit the double. score more than 7 points.

India Legends leads the table with their second consecutive victory in as many games, followed by Sri Lanka Legends and South Africa Legends with 2 points each.

Notably, last year the first edition of the series was canceled after four games on March 11 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The venue for all World Road Safety Series matches in 2021 will be the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur.
